Botswana Diamond Compliance

Botswana is the world's largest producer of diamonds by value, accounting for approximately 20-25% of global diamond production. The Botswana diamond industry is dominated by Debswana Diamond Company, a 50/50 joint venture between the Government of Botswana and De Beers. Botswana is a founding member of the Kimberley Process.

Okavango Diamond Company

The Okavango Diamond Company (ODC) is a 100% government-owned diamond trading company established in 2012. ODC sells Botswana's 25% share of Debswana's production directly to the market, bypassing De Beers' traditional aggregation and sorting system. ODC's establishment was a key step in Botswana's strategy to capture more value from its diamond resources.
